Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch puppeteer Caroll Spinney retired from Sesame Street after 50 years.

Spinney, who was 84, had voiced the characters since the show’s inception in 1969 and filmed a special 50th anniversary episode of the children’s TV show before flying the nest.
