Wall falls on boy, 12

A 12-year-old boy died after a garage wall collapsed at a house.

Essex Police confirmed the boy died at a property in St John’s Road in Clacton-on-Sea, while a man in his 30s was rescued from the rubble suffering from an arm injury.

Police were called by the fire service just before 7pm on Friday. The death was being treated as non-suspicious.

Detective Inspector James Hardingham, leading the investigation, appealed for any witnesses, adding: “My thoughts are with the family and friends of those concerned at this sad time.

“We are continuing our inquiries to establish the facts leading to the wall collapse.”
