The Australian government returns ownership of Uluru to the local Pitjantjat­jara Aboriginal­s. The sandstone formation, previously known as Ayers Rock, is one of Australia’s most recognisab­le natural landmarks and has been a destinatio­n for tourists since the 1930s. One of the most important indigenous sites in Australia, Uluru is listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site.
