The Australian government returns ownership of Uluru to the local Pitjantjatjara Aboriginals. The sandstone formation, previously known as Ayers Rock, is one of Australia’s most recognisable natural landmarks and has been a destination for tourists since the 1930s. One of the most important indigenous sites in Australia, Uluru is listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site.
