It’s the concluding episode, so does that mean that Tom Brannick’s colleagues are finally going to realise what a snake he really is? Probably not – after all, he literally got away with murder during the first run, and if he doesn’t live to fight another day, there’s little to no chance of the crime drama returning for a third series.

Signing the documents for his daughter Izzy’s house purchase is an oddly mundane act amid a fraught period in Tom’s life. Once that’s done with, he can concentrate on pursuing Olivia, the murder weapon and the gold – all while giving his boss Jackie and sidekick Niamh just enough information about his side of the investigation to convince them he’s on to something without implicating himself in any wrongdoing. He’s a clever devil, isn’t he?
