No Twitter rule change – for now
New Twitter owner Elon Musk has indicated he has not yet made any changes to the social media platform’s content moderation policies.
Musk tweeted that people banned from the site would not be reinstated until a review by a “content moderation council”.
He followed this hours later with further information, stating in a post: “To be super clear, we have not yet made any changes to Twitter’s content moderation policies.”
His comments suggest no immediate return to Twitter for several currentlybanned high-profile and polarising figures, including Donald Trump.
Online safety campaigners had raised concerns about Musk’s aim of allowing absolute free speech on the platform.
