Star puckers up on screen at last

-

Actor James Cosmo has revealed how he ticked off the one thing missing from his CV – his first screen kiss.

Cosmo, 74, made his screen debut in Dr Findlay’s Casebook in 1965 and has since appeared in more than 200 movies and TV roles from Braveheart and Trainspotting to Game Of Thrones.

But he said it took him more than half a century – until 2020 – to be kissed. His moment finally came in fantasy drama series His Dark Materials, when his character Farder Coram was reunited with his former lover, 300-year-old witch Serafina played by British actress Ruta Gedmintas.

Cosmo, who launched VisitScotland’s new-look guidebook Set In Scotland this week, said: “I broke my duck on His Dark Materials.

“It was one of those scenes I couldn’t wait to get there, and I was ever so nervous because of the way it struck me in my heart. It was quite chaste and sad but I broke my duck.”
