Superstar winner at Scots music awards
Sir Rod Stewart was honoured with a lifetime achievement award last night as he was hailed at the Specsavers Scottish Music Awards.
The veteran Maggie May superstar, 77, was given the Outstanding Achievement in Music award at the event held at Glasgow’s famous Barrowland venue.
Lewis Capaldi, Paolo Nutini and Clare Grogan were also among the big winners.
The show – the flagship annual fundraiser of the Nordoff Robbins music therapy charity - was hosted by broadcaster Edith Bowman, who was joined on the red carpet by stars across all musical genres.
Tamzene picked up the Rising Star award – in tribute to her journey from being discovered busking on the streets of Inverness, to now having graced some of the country’s biggest stages.
Glasgow rockers Gun won the Rock Legend award. And Tell Me Something Good star Ewan McVicar took the Electronic Music award.
Paolo Nutini, back from a four-year hiatus, celebrated winning Best Album and Best Live Act awards.
Capaldi was named Global Artist of the Year after his comeback track Forget Me shot to number one, firmly cementing him on the international music scene.
And Altered Images’ singer Grogan received the Living Legend award, as she rounded off the night with a performance from Mascara Streakz, her first album in more than 38 years.
