OAP fatally stabbed in Spain

-

A British pensioner has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing his wife to death on the Costa del Sol.

Police rushed to a flat in the holiday resort town of Benalmadena, near Malaga, on Friday night when the woman, also British, rang the emergency services to say her husband was attacking her.

By the time they arrived, she was lying dead in the kitchen diner with more than 20 knife wounds.

The 80-year-old suspect, who has not been named, was arrested at the scene. A police spokesman said he appears to have “a psychological illness with cognitive impairment and Alzheimer’s disease”.

A source said the woman, believed to be 69, had called emergency services at around 10.30pm. They said: “She said she was being stabbed by her husband and police were mobilised along with other emergency responders but found her dead inside the property when they arrived.”
