Bees boss Frank incensed after battle at Forest
Thomas Frank said his goalkeeping coach was injured after a prematch altercation with a Nottingham Forest groundsman.
The Brentford boss claimed Manu Sotelo has marks on him after an argument with a member of the groundstaff before kick-off of the 2-2 draw and accused Forest of disrupting their prematch warm-up.
Forest have conducted an early investigation and deemed Brentford to be at fault for breaching Premier League rules about how long teams can use the penalty area for during the warm-up.
The member of the groundstaff, who is understood to have felt threatened, went on to the pitch to move them on, but disrupted a drill.
The FA is aware of the incident and awaits Andre Marriner’s official report, with the referee intervening at the time.
Frank said: “I have never, ever, ever seen a groundsman walking around in the middle of our warm-up doing things.
“He got a mark. I don’t know what, something gave him a mark and I have even got a picture.”
Forest boss Steve Cooper said he was aware of the incident, but did not want to comment.
Forest went ahead through Morgan GibbsWhite’s first goal for the club, before Brentford equalised on the stroke of half-time from the spot through Bryan Mbuemo.
Things got worse when Yoane Wissa scored with 14 minutes left, to put Brentford 2-1 up, but there was one moment of drama left with Mathias Jorgensen’s own goal was awarded by goalline technology in the sixth minute of stoppage time.
Pascal Gross grabbed an 83rd-minute winner as Brighton won 3-2 at Wolves.
Adam Lallana’s early goal was matched by Wolves Manuel Goncalo Guedes and then Ruben Neves fired the hosts ahead from the spot.
Kaoru Mitoma levelled just before the break, just prior to Nelson Semedo being dent off, before Gross’ heroics late on for the Seagulls
“This game was the best in my experience here in terms of quality of play, build-up and to having the chances to score,” revealed Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi.
Wolves caretaker boss Steve Davis believes incoming manager Julen Lopetegui needs to hit the January sales.
He said: “If I was in his shoes I would be looking to increase the numbers with some quality.”
In the late game, Leicester’s resurgence continued as they won 2-0 at Everton.
Youri Tielemans scored the opener on the stroke of half-time, with Harvey Barnes sealing the win four minutes from time at Goodison Park.
