Officer to stand trial accused of stalking and assaulting former partner

-

A police officer is to go on trial accused of stalking and attacking his former partner during a campaign of harassment spanning nearly two years.

Andrew Caulfield appeared in the dock at Dundee Sheriff Court this week and denied subjecting his former partner, who is also an officer, to domestic bullying.

Caulfield is alleged to have struck fellow Police Scotland officer Amanda Watson with a car door and grabbed her by the body during the bullying campaign.

The 47-year-old from Dundee is alleged to have behaved in a jealous and controlling manner towards Watson between June 1, 2019 and April 7, 2021.

He is alleged to have broken a court bail order banning him from having contact with Watson by contacting her several times between August and November 2020.

He denies engaging in a coercive and controlling manner, refusing to accept their relationship was at an end, and refusing to cease bombarding her with phone calls, texts and emails, despite her telling him to stop contacting her.

He also denies causing a door to strike her on the body, acting in an aggressive manner towards her, grabbing her by the body and trying to pull her off a bed.

A trial was fixed by Sheriff Lindsay Foulis for next year.
