Watch it! Raw Deal steps in to solve viewer’s TV woes

-

Melanie Forrest wasn’t happy when she bought a replacement TV from a store then saw it for sale for less on the same company’s website.

In August, her Panasonic TV stopped working. Currys told her to take it to the nearest branch to have the issue looked at under warranty.

Forrest, from St Andrews, said: “I managed with help to get it to Currys in Dundee where I was told I would have to come back and collect it when it was fixed.”

However, Forrest was surprised when days later a voucher from the electrical retailer appeared on her phone for £413.96 towards buying a new TV as her old one couldn’t be repaired.

“There was no explanation why my TV was written off,” she said. Forrest returned to the store where she chose a Sony model for £638 including delivery charges.

However, when she arrived home she saw the same TV for sale on the company’s website for £519, with free delivery.

She asked to have the price matched but was told that this wasn’t possible. In frustration she appealed to Raw Deal. The good news is that after we contacted Currys, the company said it would investigate – and it wasn’t long before Forrest was offered another £100 towards the new TV.

Forrest thanked the Raw Deal team for their support, adding: “I believe this is a fair offer, providing that the replacement TV is still at the same price online.”
