Britain’s first lottery draw is held by operator Camelot as 15 million players buy 35 million tickets.

A television show, hosted by Noel Edmonds, announced the winning numbers; 30, 3, 5, 44, 14 and 22, and the bonus ball, 10. Seven ticket holders shared a prize of £5,874,778, pocketing about £800,000 each.

To date, National Lottery players have raised more than £46 billion for good causes.
