“Stolen Turkey Danger,” is one of the more unusual headlines to have graced The Sunday Post front page but the story was no laughing matter.

“Thieves who stole five white turkeys from a garden hut at Queensferry, near Halifax, Yorkshire, could bite off more than they can chew if they eat their booty, a police spokesman warned yesterday,” reported the paper.

“For the turkeys, valued at £50, had just been injected with a hormone which could prove fatal if eaten.”
