MALTESE FALCON (1941)
One of the earliest examples of film noir. Humphrey Bogart is private detective Sam Spade, who becomes entangled in a search for the statue of a legendary, jewel-encrusted falcon after his partner is murdered. An exceptional cast, led by Peter Lorre and Sydney Greenstreet, adds to the overpowering air of corruption that drives the action.
