Scotland have sights set on top spot in qualifying race

-

Scotland are gunning for top spot when they resume their World Cup League 2 campaign this week.

Shane Burger’s side take on Namibia and Nepal in a pair of doubleheaders as they step-up their bid to qualify for next year’s World Cup.

They currently sit second in the seven-team table from which the top three will progress to the final qualifying tournament next June.

Coach Burger (inset) said: “The squad is preparing for what is an important series against two of the teams competing for the qualifying spots.

“We know what we need to do to secure top spot in the table and I am looking forward to the challenges ahead.”

Two victories in the current series would be enough to take Scotland ahead of leaders Oman who have already completed their 36 fixtures. Durham youngster Tomas Mackintosh could make his senior debut against Namibia on Thursday.
