Sneddon (90+5) “It was the most bizarre thing I’ve ever seen,” Jags boss

Ian McCall admitted after keeper Jamie Sneddon’s dramatic last-minute equaliser.

“That was his own doing too. I’d never tell him to go up. He did well throughout the game too so I’m thrilled for him.”

Despite the dramatic circumstances, McCall was relieved that Thistle managed to get the point. “It’s a really tough place to come so it’s a good result. We played well enough to get a point too.”

In the opposing dugout Jim McIntyre rued the opportunities his side missed. “We had two great chances to go and finish the game, but it never happened for us. It just goes to show at this level one goal isn’t enough.”

“The goal at the end is gutting for us but we’ve got to look at ourselves for that.

“There were enough men on that pitch to pick up everyone so that’s something we need to look at.”

The hosts made the breakthrough in the sixth minute through skipper Mitch Megginson.

The ball came in from Max Johnston on the right for Megginson to strike his sixth league goal this season beyond Sneddon from 12 yards.

Substitute Fraser Fyvie almost made an instant impact on the 23rd minute with his late run into the box perfectly timed to meet a ball floated over the right.

His left-footed, first-time strike was drilled just past the far post.

Partick’s best chance of the half fell to Brian Graham. A cross was curled in from former Cove full-back Harry Milne but the striker’s close-range volley went wide of the post.

Cove had a huge chance to double their lead when a poor pass in the Jags defence let Gerry McDonagh run through one-onone with Sneddon. McDonagh tried to round Sneddon, but the Thistle man bravely claimed the ball from his feet.

In the 90th minute Cove had another one-on-one with Sneddon. This time it was Leighton McIntosh who was at the end of a quick counter-attack. The winger got past Sneddon, but Jags skipper Aaron Muirhead blocked the shot.

Those shots missed were going to prove crucial as the most unlikely of scorers brought the Jags level in the fifth minute of injury time.

Stuart Bannigan’s corner floated into the middle of the box where Sneddon was unmarked and headed into the bottom left corner like a true striker.
