Man Group’s Berliand to be new TP ICAP chairman
MAN GROUP director Richard Berliand is set to be the next chairman of interdealer broker TP ICAP, with an official announcement expected before Christmas.
He will replace current chairman Rupert Robson, who is postponing plans to step down at the end of the year to smooth over the transition, Sky News reported.
The company had a challenging summer after a profit warning led to shares falling in value by almost a third and the departure of chief executive John Phizackerley.
Mr Berliand will work with Nicolas Breteau, the new CEO.
Mr Berliand has more than three decades of experience in finance, including important roles at JP Morgan. He is currently senior independent director and chairman of the remuneration committee at investment man- ager Man Group, which also presents the literary Man Booker Prize.
Angela Knight, TP ICAP’S senior independent director, led the search for a replacement for Mr Robson.
TP ICAP is a middleman between investment banks to find buyers and sellers for different assets. It is famous for its charity days, which have in the past welcomed the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to the trading floor.
TP ICAP and Man Group both declined to comment yesterday.
