of the season. I am going to need to recharge my batteries.”

It is a balance both he and Emery are no doubt trying to find. There will be time for unwinding, but it will not be over the next two months, and certainly not at the Vitality Stadium today, when two of the Premier League’s most breathlessly exciting sides meet.

Emery’s work ethic has been transferred to his team, who have covered more ground than any other side this season.

Arsenal have scored and conceded a total of 41 goals, the second most in the division, while Bournemouth are on 37, the fifth most.

On paper at least, it should be open and flowing, and there should be plenty for Emery and Howe to analyse, study and obsess over in the coming days. It can be gruelling work, but that is the way they like it. Wolverhampton Wanderers are ready to warn any interested clubs that Ruben Neves is not for sale in January.

Neves, the Portugal international, is staying with Wolves for at least the rest of this season after an impressive start to his career in the Premier League.

Manchester City, Arsenal and Juventus are understood to admire the £15million midfielder, but the Wolves board will make clear he is not going anywhere when the transfer window reopens.

The Sunday Telegraph understands the Wolves hierarchy recently held a transfer meeting over their plans for January and it was reiterated that Neves was “100 per cent not for sale”.

Neves only signed a new five-year contract in July and his agent, Jorge Mendes, also believes the 21-year-old’s career would be best served by staying at Molineux.

The former Porto captain has established an excellent partnership with Joao Moutinho and is set to face struggling Huddersfield Town today.

Earlier this season, in an interview with The Telegraph, Neves said: “I am committed with Wolverhampton and I want to help the club achieve very good things. We have this year to work and to put Wolves where it deserves.”

Wolves will be without wing-back Jonny today. The Spain international is out until next year with a knee injury.
