The attractions of a glossy coat

ames Middleton, Kate and Pippa’s brother, has a new girlfriend. She’s called Alizée (French) and I was initially alarmed by the way they met. According to an account I read last week, it was at a private members’ club in South Kensington “when she bent down to stroke his pet spaniel”. Matron, my smelling salts! I know dating is different these days but, as a new singleton, this story made me nervous. Is that a new euphemism? Was this aberrant French behaviour, creeping across the Ch Channel? One’s mind bogg boggled. It was a relief to confirm later that the club does allow ““small, wellbehave behaved dogs” and that t the story was r referring to James’s beloved spaniel, Ella. Phew Phew. We can all sleep easy again.
