TESSA’S TOP TIPS

-

Cooking meals from scratch – not buying anything that comes out of a packet – is best. There is

so much hidden sugar in processed food, it’s hard to cut back on it if we don’t know how

much we’re eating!

Artificial sweeteners are out: I only use ingredients that are

naturally sweet to flavour puddings and treats, for example berries, citrus fruit, apples and pears, a few dates, a bit of maple

syrup or raw local honey. Cinnamon, too, helps to satisfy a

craving for sweetness.

When you start to eat less refined

sugar, your taste buds have a chance to recover and you’ll find that food starts to taste amazing – meaning you will need to add

sweetness less and less.
