With six outposts in India, one in Dubai and another planned for New York, hyper-luxe hotel brand Taj is bringing its acclaimed private members’ club, The Chambers, to London. Located at the hotel’s ritzy 51 Buckingham Gate address, the club promises visiting members an oasis of calm, complete with a well-stocked bar, work pods and an all-day menu featuring Indian classics. “I Am Rouge”: so says the central – and so far unseen – artwork by Louise Bourgeois in The Connaught’s new bar, Red Room. Alongside other red-tinged works by female artists, including a watercolour by Jenny Holzer, red wine is a focus. Pull up a pew at the glowing, blush-pink onyx bar and try rare vintages and first growths, which are (unusually) available by the glass here thanks to a new Coravin preservation system.
