Amberley Castle, West Sussex
From £375 per person for a two-night stay Two-night stay in a Gatehouse Suite Breakfast each morning Three-course dinner on the first night Offer available Wednesday to Sunday only
Amberley Castle dates back to the early 12th century. The Grade
I-listed building still features an imposing
portcullis, while the ruins of its great hall,
which was ravaged in the English Civil War, stand in the impressive
12-acre grounds. The hotel offers plush rooms and impeccable
service, while the restaurant’s sumptuous food can be enjoyed in
either the Queen’s Room or the Great Room, a fine example of
Norman architecture.
The hotel grounds also feature a tennis
court, an 18-hole putting green and
a croquet lawn. Telegraph Travel writer
Debbie Ward says: “This former castle, which has a remarkable history, offers fine dining
and is filled with museum-worthy artefacts. It is perfect for a special occasion
or an immersive tourist experience.”
