Try alternatin­g your cardio exercise, and gradually increasing reps and weights in your resistance training. Variety helps your body to be able to respond to different demands requiring endurance, resistance and flexibilit­y. Bodies adapt, so if you run 5km twice a week and do nothing else, you’ll plateau. With variety, you’re also less likely to either injure yourself by overloadin­g one area or become bored and lose motivation.
