Moving to the sticks may not be easy, so here’s a few top toff tips

-

Oh look, another Londoner is moving to the country: the Queen is reportedly abandoning Buckingham Palace and going to Windsor Castle. Plenty of friends have done the same recently, but the transition may not be as easy as you think, Your Majesty, so I’ve gleaned a few tips from my pals to help. Get involved in the local community, perhaps via wild swimming or a book club, like my friend Caz, although in 14 months she is yet to read one of the books (“I go for the wine”). The transport network won’t be as good, so you’ll have to drive everywhere, and it may take twice as long, since, as my friend Cara often grumbles from East Sussex, there are now so many cyclists on the roads that getting to the local Co-op takes “hours”. The internet is often patchy in the sticks, and it may not be as easy as it is in London to nip out for a flat white.
