This sprawling, attractive weekender has so much to offer, it is no wonder that families bring the whole gang along. While parents can tune into excellent theatre, dance, literature and music, children have their own arena beside the lake. Here, they can flit between crafts, stories, puppetry and singalongs. Aardman Animations are booked to run model-making sessions this summer and, along with lake swimming, introductory classes in stand-up paddleboarding were also available last year. Teenagers, meanwhile, have the run of things up in the woods, where there is a host of novel activities.
