The Sunday Telegraph - Sunday

WOMAD Charlton Park, Wiltshire

Young creatives will enjoy Womad, as the puppets for the main stage carnival on Sunday are built and painted over the weekend. The World of Children is very well run, with plenty to inspire and an emphasis on practical fun rather than entertainment. Peter Gabriel’s festival hosts musicians from all over the world, so just taking in the variety of sounds is a learning experience for young ears. Performers to catch include Malian singer Fatoumata Diawara, Kae Tempest, The Flaming Lips, Nitin Sawhney and SEED. For adults, there is a spa and a dazzling array of food.

July 28-31, adult weekend camping from £205, womad.co.uk

Dance tents and gin bars are dotted in between, for parents to dive in and out
