The idyllic fields beside Chew Valley lake are to be lit up by the fire from a Rolls-Royce jet engine this summer. Valleyfest has invited Arcadia – the performance-art collective beloved of Glastonbury-goers – to the otherwise tranquil Mendip hills. The Afterburner stage is an late-night treat for parents at a festival that also promises a great deal for children. The main lake stage is where Faithless and Roni Size will DJ, whereas families can find poetry, storytelling and games on this compact site. For refuelling purposes, the festival promises regeneratively farmed food as well.
