BIKER JACKETS
Carine Roitfeld, 67
You may come to notice, as I have, that a large number of
millennial women are walking around in floral maxi dresses, pristine white plimsolls and a biker jacket
that they presumably imagine “toughens up the look”. When it comes to this rugged wardrobe stalwart,
how old is too old to “toughen up the look”? The answer is: never. There is always a place in an older
woman’s wardrobe for a biker jacket: just steer clear
of over-zealous silver hardware (something I’d counsel at any age) and go
for softer, more yielding fabrics, or at least leather that doesn’t squeak. A good
biker jacket (and they’re worth flinging money at, if you have it) will last for ever, and work with everything
from smart black trousers to the aforementioned floral
maxi. LC
