Driving and logistics

-

Getting things from A to B is an industry that’s desperate for talent right now, and salaries are on the up. Totaljobs reports an eight per cent upswing in salaries from January to March this year, and many logistics companies are now offering highly competitive packages, with some starting pay reaching £40,000£50,000, plus overtime and bonuses. Fifteen per cent of applicants to Manpower’s HGV Driver Academy Group are between the ages of 50 and 60, so if you’ve always enjoyed life at the wheel, there’s never been a better time to make it a career. The Driver Academy Group consortium runs a Government-funded “Novice to HGV” driver-skills boot camp, with flexible courses lasting about 16 weeks at 60 locations across England. Anyone over 19 with a driving licence is eligible to participate.
