The do’s and don’ts of finding someone to look after your dog
Make sure the kennels/dog sitter are registered with the local authority and
fully insured
Look at reviews from other
dog owners
Ask them what they would do in certain situations, if
your dog did “something wrong” or seemed anxious
Do a meet and greet or trial night beforehand to get your dog used to a new person
or environment
If your dog is going to a kennel, check if they can bring a favourite toy or
blanket with them
Make sure your dog is wearing an ID tag and let the dog-sitter know if you’re happy for them to go off
the lead
Leave a list of emergency contacts in case they are
unable to reach you
