THE REGULARS

-

Botox, every 3-4 months, to reduce wrinkles on my forehead and around my eyes, to raise my eyebrows, in the muscles that pull the corners of my mouth down in a grimace, in the masseter, the big chewing muscle, to tone down my night-time teeth-grinding. Yes, this is a lot, and you’d think it would leave my face a frozen mask, but if you watch my videos on Instagram, you’ll see how my face moves just fine.

Laser or Intense Pulsed Light

(IPL), about once a year, to clear sun damage, age spots and thread veins.

Fillers, roughly once a year, to replace lost volume in my temples and cheeks, and to restructure the contours of my chin, jawline and cheekbones. I only have fillers when and where they’re helpful; a recent MRI of my face shows that there’s an awful lot of filler in there that technically should have dissolved and vanished years ago.

Skin-conditioning “injectable moisture treatments” like Profhilo or Volite, which act like a layer of hydrating serum on the inside of your skin and help it to become stronger and more radiant. I always mean to have these every three months in my face, neck and décolletage, but never got round to my face last year.

Skin tightening, with ultrasound (eg Sofwave), broadband light or radiofrequency microneedling (eg Morpheus8), each of which uses a different type of energy to damage the collagen in the skin, making it grow back firmer, smoother and stronger over the following months. I try one procedure of this type most years.

What else? Oh yes, great skincare. Healthy skin looks smooth, supple and vibrant, and you can’t get that from tweakments alone. And sunscreen is a daily non-negotiable.
