Think ahead for your year of ter­rific travel

Fore­sight can be a trou­ble­some thing. For proof, you need only look to Cas­san­dra, daugh­ter of King Priam of Troy, who ac­cord­ing to Greek mythol­ogy was blessed in be­ing able to have vi­sions of the fu­ture but cursed by the fact that, by de­fault, no­body ever be­lieved what she saw.

Still, it is one thing to tell your fa­ther that his city will be de­stroyed and he is doomed to watch it hap­pen while pow­er­less to stop it; quite an­other to pre­dict how the world of travel will shape up in 2019.

There may not be any­thing on the hori­zon quite as dra­matic as a giant wooden horse stuffed with en­emy war­riors – but a lot will hap­pen in re­la­tion to hol­i­days and get­aways in the next 12 months. And some of it is out­lined here. There will be new flights, cruise ships, ski lifts and ho­tels; there will be an­niver­saries, films and TV shows that in­flu­ence our de­ci­sions on where to go. And there will also be the small is­sue of Brexit, of course.
