- Telegraph By Lexi Finnigan

THE second Briton to be killed fighting Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in Syria failed to fulfil his dream of joining the Army due to asthma, his family has revealed.

Just before his 18th birthday, Dean Evans tried to sign up but failed his medical. His stepfather said it was the reason he travelled to Syria to join the Kurdish military force People’s Defence Units. He was killed in June, aged 22, during a clash with terrorist fighters.
