Save Illustrious from the scrap

Next Wednesday the aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious is being towed to a Turkish shipyard for scrap. I hear that a group of businessmen have offered £3 million for it – £1 million more than scrap value – with an additional £12 million investment to turn it into a museum. I hope the Government accepts their offer. Until such time as we get round to rebuilding our Armed Forces – which, with Putin’s sabre-rattling, had better not be long delayed – it would be good to have a reminder about how we once took security seriously, and of the brave men and women who defended us.
