Pill death woman told by GP to go on spa day

-

A doctor who prescribed the contraceptive pill that caused a young woman’s fatal blood clot will face a disciplinary hearing.

Charlotte Foster, 23, from Newport, Shropshire, died five months after she started taking Dianette.

An inquest heard she would have survived if GP Dr Sunil Idicula Simon had not told her to go on a spa day when she returned to him and told of back pain and shortness of breath.

Dr Simon will appear before a General Medical Council panel in Manchester on June 2. He is accused of failing to obtain a full medical history and properly considering the case.
