Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)

Puny Brooklyn kid Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) volunteers for a project during the Second World War in which he undergoes a Frankensteinstyle operation that turns him from punchbag homunculus to America’s hulking “super-soldier”. Joe Johnston’s ( The Wolfman) film is based on the Forties Marvel comics and, although it doesn’t exactly enthral, the action scenes are terrific fun.
