The Reluctant Fundamentalist (2012)

Mira Nair’s middlebrow film is a fattening-up of the 2007 novel of the same name by Mohsin Hamid, in which Changez (Riz Ahmed), a Pakistani-born lecturer who worked on Wall Street for a spell, but left the US following the September 11 attacks, tells his life story to an American journalist (Liev Schreiber) in a tea house. Ahmed gives an impressive performance despite Nair’s heavyhanded work. Kate Hudson co-stars.
