Don Carlo

-

This opera, often rated today as Verdi’s supreme masterpiece, is an adaptation of Schiller’s epic of counter-Reformation Spain which dramatises the clash between political principle and personal feeling in a score rich in lyrical beauty and high emotion. For this revival of Nicholas Hytner’s production, Bertrand de Billy will conduct a strong cast led by Bryan Hymel in the title role, Christoph Pohl as the noble Marquis of Posa and Ekaterina Semenchuk as the scheming Princess Eboli.
