Confused driver seeks online help after losing his car for three days

- By Helen Nianias just forgot a big deal.’

FORGETTING where you have parked the car is not an uncommon problem, but one man searched for his vehicle for three days before resorting to the internet to find it.

Gavin Strickland, 19, drove from Syracuse, New York State, to Toronto for a concert, only to realise he had no idea where he had parked his car after the show ended. Mr Strickland went to see Metallica play in the Canadian city on Sunday night last week, but when he attempted to retrace his steps, he realised he could not remember in which car park he had left his blue-green Nissan Versa Sedan.

“At first I was like: ‘I where I parked. It’s not Eventually I started thinking ‘I may never see my car again’,” he told CTV News Channel, calling the incident a “big oops”.

His father, Eric, said: “He just really kind of screwed up going into a big city not knowing what to do.” The family reported the missing vehicle to Toronto police, and then decided to appeal to the might of classifieds website Craig- slist to see if users could help down Mr Strickland’s car.

The post read: “Our doofy son parked the car in an indoor parking garage, in the first floor (slightly lower/ basement level) but that garage cannot be located… Please respond with photos of the car and specific location instructions.” The only local landmarks Mr Strickland could recall were a Star- track bucks, a construction site, what might have been a bank and a “strange spiral outdoor structure”.

Madison Riddolls, a local, took pity on him and set out to look for the car, finding it a little after midnight on Thursday morning. Ms Riddolls was given a $100 (£77) reward by Mr Strickland, and another $100 towards a charity of her choice.
