IT COULD be a big week for Meghan Markle, with Prince Harry in her home town to attend his Invictus Games for military veterans, and a potential first official appearance on the horizon.

Quite the interesting moment, then, for her producer ex-husband to launch a comedy about a man whose wife leaves him for a British prince.

The television pitch, announced in the US press as the Invictus Games got under way, envisions Trevor or Engelson and his team exploring the apparently fictional divorce, and building a new life sharing custody of the Royal family.

The timing of the announcement is unlikely to go unnoticed in royal circles, with Ms Markle widely expected to make her first official appearance at Prince Harry’s side during the Toronto games in the coming week.

Last night, the Prince officially opened the third Invictus Games in front of thousands of fans.

The Prince, who founded the Games and will be in Toronto for the duration to lend his support, spent the day undertaking g royal duties, visiting a mental health charity and conducting a bilateral meeting with Justin Trudeau, eau, the Canadian prime minister, and Melania Trump, US first lady.

It is the first solo overseas visit for Mrs Trump, who wore a black and white dog-tooth Dior suit, shook the Prince’s hand and said: “Thank you. Thank you so much for coming.”

The Prince then asked the First Lady if she had been in the country long before they discussed the success of the Invictus Games.

Royal sources said he hoped to spend the week shining a spotlight on the example of service and duty exhibited by Invictus Games competitors and their families, and encouraging others to follow their example. The Prince began his Canadian mission at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health yesterday, where he met visiting children and their excited mothers. Camilla Vasquez, 20, said afterwards: “I told him I was really happy to meet him and he said he was glad I’d come out. He is one of the most genuine people I have met. You can tell he is sincere and that he truly cares.”

She said the Prince and Ms Markle seemed like the “perfect couple”. “They are wonderful together. I met her when she was filming Suits near my school. She’s like him – very kind and genuine. They are both caring and care about humanitarian issues and social issues. Harry proved that by being here today.”

Rupa Arora and her four-year-old daughter Saveira got up at 6am to wait for two and a half hours for the royal visit, saying: “It was worth it.” Inside, the Prince joined talks about current treatmenttreat for mental health issues, includi including a potential preventive cure for PTSD. The coming week will see the Prince attend all sporting events, su supporting the athletes he has come to know through his work with Invictus in recent years. Ms Markle’s attendance has so far become the hottest topic of conversation among royal watchers, with many predicting she would miss the opening ceremony so as not to overshadow competitors.

Ms Markle is understood to have been accredited for the Games, anda is free to attend whenever it fits in with her work schedule while filming the legal drama Suits.

Last night, the television network Fox confirmed to The Sunday Telegraph that there was a project about a divorcée and a prince “in development for pilot consideration”.

The network said the “logline”, or summary of the show, was: “Divorce is hard. Sharing custody is harder. Sharing custody with the British Royal family in the unforgiving spotlight of London’s tabloid media is next level.”
