SIR – Can I make a plea for wider spaces in car parks?

Many people have mobility problems which aren’t sufficient­ly serious for them to be classified as disabled, but which make things awkward in most car parks. A few extra inches would be welcome. Peter McPherson

SIR – Roy Hughes (Letters, April 1) counted 112 road signs in 1.3 miles on the A38 in Birmingham. I do hope he was a passenger in the vehicle at the time. John Newbury

SIR – I passed the village of Shilbottle on the A1 last weekend. I counted nine signs going north and six going south, two or three with the “l” slightly modified. Michael Grave
