Air Force family
SIR – Joe Shute (Features, April 1) rightly highlights the Sowrey family’s contributions to the RAF, which reflect the values of the service during its first century.
However, longstanding family contributions are not uncommon in the service. My father served from 1938 to 1980; I served from 1965 to 2002, and my brother from 1976 to 2009.
In addition, my wife’s father – now 95 – served from 1942 to 1979, and both his wife and my mother were in the WAAF/WRAF. Gp Capt Glenn Morton
