US lettuce causes E.coli outbreak
Americans have been told to throw away any storebought romaine lettuce after an E. coli outbreak affected dozens of people across the country.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention expanded its warning about tainted romaine from Arizona on Friday, saying people should now avoid eating any forms of the lettuce.
Previously, health officials had only warned against chopped romaine in salads.
So far, the outbreak has infected 53 people in 16 states. At least 31 have been hospitalised, including five with kidney failure.
