Windrush mistakes

-

SIR – Besides the obvious questions as to how the Windrush affair occurred, we need to ask why no one in authority said: “Hang on – this may have been authorised from on high, but it clearly flies in the face of justice.”

It is very worrying that the same thing may happen – or may even be happening now – in other government decisions.

In the aviation and medical worlds, everyone in a team – no matter how lowly they are – is compelled to point out any issues that look as if they could lead to disaster, and to do so well before problems occur.

Why did this not happen in the case of the Windrush migrants? It seems that nobody in government or the Civil Service is expected to blow the whistle over such ineptitude.
