St Helena ‘child abuse’ whistle-blowers fight on
Two British social workers who say an inquiry report into their allegations of a child abuse cover-up on the British overseas territory of St Helena destroyed their professional reputations have been given the go-ahead to continue a legal fight.
Claire Gannon and Martin Warsama, who worked on the South Atlantic island, have sued the Foreign Office and the senior barrister who led the inquiry, which found “no corruption at all”. They say conclusions were reached about them on the basis of an inquiry which was unfair.
A judge at the High Court in London ruled that they could take their case to the Court of Appeal.
