Corbyn tote bags

-

man with a guitar sang a song about “kicking those posh boys up the a---”. Glen Matlock, the 61-year-old former Sex Pistol, performed an acoustic version of Pretty Vacant. UB40, the Eighties reggae group, sent a video message apologising for their absence (“We’ve got a gig in Wales … But look out for our new album”). Corbynistas sat around in little clumps, talking among themselves.

Everyone was trying terribly hard to enjoy themselves, but it all felt a bit forlorn. Still, at least the fans had the headline act to look forward to.

“Ohhhh, Je-re-my Corrrr-bynnnn!” The chanting began 20 minutes before the Labour leader shuffled onstage, and continued for a full minute after he had. His speech was the usual aimless rambling, but at last the crowd was alive. He got much bigger cheers than any of the musicians.

If they hold this festival next year, perhaps they should just give him a guitar.
