Healthy cooking
SIR – It is a step too far for Food Standards Scotland to dictate what can and cannot be served in restaurants and takeaways (report, November 22), in the name of combating obesity.
Not everyone who visits these places is overweight: they may simply be looking for something different or special.
It would be much more useful to reinstate home economics in schools so that children are able to acquire a basic knowledge and understanding of food, cooking and budgeting. This would also help to break the cycle of parents who can’t or won’t teach their children good habits. Anne Cummings
