Woman and young girl die in fire at their home

An eight-year-old girl and a 33-yearold woman died in a house fire yesterday morning.

Notts Police said fire broke out in a house in Woodhill Road, Collingham, Notts, around 7am. Five people, all thought to be from the same family, were rescued but two later died.

Chief Insp Rich Stapleford said a boy aged five and a 34-year-old man were in hospital with serious injuries, and a 53-year-old woman was led to safety uninjured. “The fire was brought under control and a joint fire and police investigation is taking place to establish a cause,” the officer added.
