A clean break from wasteful washing habits

SIR – It’s great that soap bars are making a comeback, as part of a drive to cut down on unnecessar­y plastic waste (report, January 6).

I’ve been using bars of soap for a while, but what we need is a really good soap dish. It needs to be able to drain the soap between uses.

When there’s a suitable one on the market, even more people might see the pleasure of using a bar of soap. Carla Stainke

SIR – When we leave the EU, will we get back proper coal tar soap? In the meantime, Wright’s does a decent job of capturing its essence, and I enjoy leaving the house invigorate­d and smelling like a freshly laid road. CJ Fletcher
