Search for boy, 6, after fall in river on family trip
Emergency services were last night searching for a six-year-old boy who fell into the River Stour in Sandwich, Kent.
Kent Police said officers were called to Richborough Road in Sandwich over concern for the welfare of a child.
He reportedly fell into the river while on a family fishing trip at about 1.20pm yesterday. His father jumped into the river after him, but was unable to find him, according to a relative speaking to the Daily Mirror.
Kent Police led the search along with Kent Fire and Rescue Service, water safety units, an inshore lifeboat and a helicopter. A search of the surrounding riverbeds and a scrapyard in the area was also being carried out.
